Wonders of the Golden West Tour .. Departing Dublin Tuesday 7th October 2008
Visit one of the most beautiful places in the world and enjoy the fun and the craic that is synonymous with any Letterkenny Reunion Tour. Meet up with old friends and make new ones as you take in the best of the Western States of America!
Day 1- Tuesday 7th October – Check in Dublin Airport at 8.20am
Depart Dublin on DL 177 at 1120.
Arrive into Atlanta at 3.10pm.
Depart Atlanta on flight DL 69 at 4.45pm arrive San Francisco at 7.00pm.
On arrival in San Francisco we will be picked up by private coach and transferred to the Hilton Hotel in the heart of downtown San Francisco for three nights.We will have the afternoon free to relax.
Day 2 – Wednesday 8th October – We have a fabulous city tour which takes in everything that makes San Francisco such a great city. We will then travel out to Sausalito on the ferry and return by coach. Admission to Alcatraz is included in the tour this afternoon.
Day 3 - Thursday 9th October – We have left today free so that you can take in some shopping in the city or wander down to Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy the entertainment, shopping and the seals. This is a great place to spend an afternoon!
Day 4 – Friday 10th October – Leaving San Francisco we travel via Sacramento to Yosemite National Park where we stay in the Best Western Yosemite Way Station for one night. We will stop in Old Town Sacramento for lunch, where time seems to have stood still and the swinging doors and boardwalks are a part of everyday living.
Day 5 – Saturday 11th October – This morning we enter Yosemite, home of the Redwoods or Sequoias (the tallest trees in the world) and see the spectacular sights of this glorious valley. This afternoon we leave the valley and head south towards Mammoth Lakes where we will be accommodated overnight.
Day 6 – Sunday 12th October – Today we journey through Death Valley National Park: A Land of Extremes - Hottest, Driest, Lowest: A superlative desert of streaming sand dunes, mountains, multicoloured rock layers, water-fluted canyons and three million acres of stone wilderness. Home to the Timbisha Shoshone tribe of Indians and to plants and animals unique to the harshest deserts. We journey south into Las Vegas. We have accommodation in the Monte Carlo Hotel or similar for two nights.
Day 7 – Monday 13th October –. You will be dazzled by the glamour and the excitement of this amazing place. Non-stop entertainment and all night partying and more casinos than you will ever get around to visiting. It is surreal, magical and mad!
We will take an optional tour out over the Hoover dam, and for those who wish there is also the option of taking a cruise on Lake Mead at the upper end of the dam. Later you will have an opportunity to see the dam from the inside.
Day 8 – Tuesday 14th October – We leave Las Vegas and drive to the south rim of the canyon for the most spectacular sight in this world!
The only place in America that truly deserves the word “Awesome!”
We will stay at the Grand Hotel by the Canyon entrance tonight.
Day 9 – Wednesday 15th October - Onward today to Sedona where the Wild West comes alive. We will have time to enjoy this wonderful landscape and the red rocks and even enjoy a buffalo burger! We then continue on to Bullhead City for an overnight stay in the Aquarius Hotel and Casino on the banks of the Colorado River.
Day 10 – Thursday 16th October – As we head back into California we are welcomed by the immensity of the high rise of Los Angeles which looks so foreign after the wilderness of the west. The Los Angeles Marriott is our hotel for our last night of the tour. We will have an opportunity this afternoon to do a city tour of the “City of Angels” taking in Hollywood, Beverley Hills and Rodeo Drive as well as the walkway of the stars and Sunset Boulevard.
Day 11 – Friday 17th October –We will check in at 8.20am for flight DL 101, which departs Los Angeles at 11.30am arriving into Atlanta at 6.53pm
Depart Atlanta on flight DL 176 at 8.25pm.
Day 12 – Saturday 18th October – Arrive Dublin airport tired but happy at 9.25am.
